From the Owner: What’s in a Name?
I know you have places to go and people (maybe even one of us?) to see, so let me give you the short of the long:
I wanted a word, or words, that started with a B. I’ve always liked alliterations (being named Brittany Bate, and all). That was my jumping off point. Not super earth-shattering, I know. But it IS real. I like to keep it real – that’s something important to know about me and my style.
I have said for so long that change is really hard, and really scary. Because of this, I believe everyone who comes to see me has at least one thing in common – they are brave, even if they do not know, or feel, it yet. But I think there is a deeper layer to bravery that I hope to bring out of my clients.
BOLDNESS. I want you to go beyond and through brave, and be bold.
Be BOLD in your pursuit of happiness.
Be BOLD in your journey to live your most authentic life.
Be BOLD in building the life you deserve, as the person you truly are.
Be BOLD in confronting your past trauma(s).
And be BOLD enough to face your addictions head on, with our help of course.
Our team wants you to be BOLD, but you do not have to be BOLD alone.
For me, being BOLD is personal. Making the decision to open my own online group therapy practice erequired me to be both brave and bold. To take the proverbially leap of faith in the pursuit of what I knew I wanted. After all, like Robert Frost said, Freedom lies in being bold.

WHY CHOOSE Be BOLD Psychology and Consulting?
Well first, I may be a bit biased, but I think we’re all pretty cool people, have great senses of humor, and are downright talented clinicians! We are also aligned on important values, and our diverse background and training experiences complement each other very well!
We are a multidisciplinary team of trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ allied or identified clinicians who care deeply about helping clients overcome their deepest, toughest obstacles in pursuit of living their most authentic life. As individuals, we regularly engage in training and consultation to offer the highest-quality services possible. As a team, we regularly collaborate and challenge each other to be the best clinicians possible, offering opportunities to learn from one another and continue to grow.
Moreover, our “team” approach also allows for us to service multiple members of the same family while consulting with each other, as appropriate. Clients also find it beneficial to pursue individual therapy with one of our clinicians, while engaging in family or relationship work with another. Gone are the days where one provider is not communicating with the other. If you are looking for continuity of care and need to wrap in a few services, we’ve got you! Likewise, if you are receiving therapy from your Be BOLD clinician and recognize a psychological evaluation could be helpful, our doctoral-level providers are able to offer a comprehensive psychological evaluation in-house and discuss results collaboratively with your Be BOLD therapist! Similarly, if you are undergoing an evaluation with us and it appears you might be a good fit for one of our Be BOLD clinicians, we can also discuss that option! Although you will be seeing one of us, our clients achieve great benefit from the collegial, collaborative nature of our team here (within limits and respecting confidentiality, of course!).
Values and Approach
We believe it is our responsibility to provide culturally informed and affirming care; thus, we make it a priority to educate ourselves and others on issues of diversity and mental health care. All of our clinicians undergo initial and ongoing training to provide gender-affirming and neuro-affirming services, as well as participate in ongoing training and consultation to provide culturally-informed, antiracist, affirming care.
All people, all ages, all races, all neurotypes, all backgrounds, all abilities, all sizes, all religious or spiritual backgrounds, all sexual orientations, all romantic orientations, all relational orientations, and all genders are welcome and honored.
Our Commitment to Equity Work
At Be BOLD Psychology and Consulting, our clinicians are committed to engaging in antiracism and equity work. All clinicians engage in anti-racism and anti-oppression training to offer safer spaces for our clients. This is accomplished via investment in readings, trainings, and discussions led by clinicians and trainers of lived experience in the anti-racism and anti-oppression arena. Further, we know and believe that:
- Racism is real.
- White Supremacy and White Privilege are real, including in mental health graduate programs, therapeutic interventions, the DSM-5, and the therapy space.
- Discrimination can happen many different ways, on many roles, and levels.
- Power and control are at the root of these things.
- Naming and dismantling these things when they show up in our practice or therapy services is mandatory.
- That we will mess up. When we mess up, we will apologize and invest in continued and targeted education and training from leaders of lived experience to get it right.
BIPOC communities have important mental health needs that have been ignored and underrepresented in the broader mental health community. BIPOC communities deserve to have a space where they are safer, seen, and understood. We are committed to ensuring you have that space here.
