Are you a member of the LGBTQI+ community, and looking for a therapist that “just gets it?” Have you been feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, a transition, family or relationship difficulties, or hoping to better manage stress and anxiety? As a queer and trans person of color, I am passionate about collective liberation and providing affirming and empowering care to the LGBTQ+ community, especially those who are trans or gender diverse.

And I know that finding a therapist who is a good fit for your specific needs and goals can be a very overwhelming process. It may feel intimidating to seek support or find someone to talk to and explore who you are, uncover and overcome both external and internal challenges and trauma, and navigate transitions. Whether you are looking for someone to connect with or help you build skills to manage changes, relationships, or stressors in your life, you don’t have to do it alone. It can help to work with a therapist who deeply understands these struggles and is committed to helping others grow into their true selves and thrive. I offer a collaborative approach so we may work together towards your goals, using therapeutic approaches and interventions that are affirming, trauma-informed, and evidence-based.

If you feel that we may be a good fit and would like to learn more about my approach or the process, I offer free, 20-minute consultations. You can also reach me at my email at bailey@beboldpsychnc.com.

A little more about who I love to work with:

I primarily offer therapy for adolescents in North Carolina, adults within the LGBTQ+ community, and offer supportive therapy for navigating gender identity or sexuality. I am passionate about helping clients navigate life transitions, identity exploration, stress, depression, and anxiety. I am glad you are here and hope to give you a sense of belonging, compassion, and support.

My “big three” therapeutic focus areas include:

  • Gender Identity: I know that finding a gender-affirming therapist who is knowledgeable about some of the shared experiences a trans person may go through might feel limited, perhaps even impossible. As a trans and queer clinician myself, I also recognize that navigating the complexities and nuances of gender may feel confusing or overwhelming, as well as exciting and liberating! I can also appreciate that finding a community to explore your gender identity and gender expression can be challenging. Together, we will work on your individual needs and goals as you navigate your gender identity.
  • Stress and Anxiety: Are you feeling overwhelmed or stuck? Perhaps you feel nervous or tense, or maybe the world feels like it is against you, and there is no way out. In our sessions, we will work as a team to work through areas of stress in your life, cultivate new coping skills, and work to ultimately decrease the levels of stress or anxiety you may be experiencing.
  • Life transitions: Change can be both exciting and scary! Even good changes, such as a move, attending a new school, a new job, or  beginning hormone affirming therapy, can bring about feelings of anxiety, fear, and worry. Transitions can also be challenging, particularly when unfamiliar or stressful. I am here to work with you through whatever you are going through and empower you in this season of transition in your life.

Bailey utilizes Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness practices. He uses holistic, humanistic, and strength-based approaches when working with clients throughout sessions.
