Therapy is not one size fits all. That is why it is so important to find a therapist that meets YOUR needs. Are you or someone you are caring for battling a chronic illness or chronic pain? Are you struggling to find a “new normal” after the death of a loved one? Perhaps conflict with family, friends, or at work has left you feeling burned out, overwhelmed, anxious or stressed. Maybe you have recently experienced an upsetting or traumatic event. Have friends/ family voiced worry and concern regarding increased substance use? You have come to the right place & I am here to help you decrease distress and increase enjoyment.
Therapy is YOUR space to talk about tough stuff, process unresolved feelings, construct and add tools to your self-care toolbox. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming licensed clinical worker utilizing a trauma informed approach working with older teens and adults. I structure sessions to meet your specific, unique therapy goals.
The last year and half has been trying for most folks. There is no better time to prioritize your mental health. It is time to put you first and get the support you deserve. If you have read this far, then you are motivated to start your wellness journey. Reach out to me at Megan@beboldpsychnc.com! A little more about who I love to work with:
I provide trauma informed, social justice oriented, LGBTQIA+ affirming mental health services to individuals, couples, and families. I enjoy working with teens 14yrs+ dealing with school transitions, complex family dynamics, and gender identity exploration. I also enjoy working with adults navigating new roles, setting boundaries, and healing from past experiences. I am also experienced in and enjoy providing support to those coping with chronic health issues, or those caring for a loved one who is experiencing chronic health issues.
My big three therapeutic focus areas include:
- Grief and loss: Losing a loved one is never easy. At times we experience a broad array of emotion ranging from sadness, to anger, and even sometimes relief. Death is universal, though we certainly all cope with grief and loss differently. A lot of people report being inundated and overwhelmed with texts, calls, visits and casseroles in the few months following a death. But what happens when those calls, texts, and visits dwindle? Together we will work to accept and process the reality of the loss, adjust to a “new normal” and establish an enduring connection while healing.
- Life Transitions: Perhaps you are going through a break up? Setting boundaries with toxic family members? Becoming a new parent or caring for an aging loved one? Maybe you are starting a new job, decided to change majors, or starting a new semester? Experiencing a recent move or empty nest syndrome? In our sessions you will receive support and gain skills to navigate this new terrain.
- Chronic health issues: Increased fatigue, isolation, a never ending list of doctors appointments, disease progression and financial strain are just a few of the potential stressors in navigating chronic health issues. In our sessions I will hold space for you to talk about the tough stuff. For a lot of people this tough stuff includes their changing bodies, increased dependence for care needs, sadness, and anger. Throughout our sessions you have dedicated time to process these thoughts, feelings, emotions as well as the chance to add coping skills & mindfulness techniques to your toolbox.
