Specialty areas:

Are you a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and looking for a therapist who just gets it? Have you been feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, a transition, family or relationship difficulties, or hoping to better manage anxiety and stress? As a queer and trans clinician of color, I am passionate about collective liberation and providing affirming and empowering care to the LGBTQIA+ community, especially to those who are trans or gender diverse.

I understand that finding a therapist who is a good fit for your specific needs and goals can be an overwhelming process. It may feel intimidating or vulnerable to seek support, explore your identities, uncover and overcome both external and internal challenges, and navigate life transitions. Whether you are looking for someone to connect with or help you build skills to manage changes, relationships, or stressors in your life, you don’t have to do it alone. It can help work with a therapist who deeply understands these struggles and is committed to helping others grow into their true selves and thrive. I offer a collaborative approach, working together toward your goals, using therapeutic approaches and interventions that are affirming, trauma-informed, and evidence-based.

If you feel that we may be a good fit and would like to learn more about my approach or the process, I offer free 20-minute consultations. You can also reach me at my email, bailey@beboldpsychnc.com.

A little more about who I love to work with:

“Make peace with the fact that people will always see their own version of you in their minds. You don’t have to be responsible for who they think you are.” -A. Gibson

I primarily offer therapy to adolescents and adults in North Carolina, with a focus on individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals navigating gender identity and sexuality. I’m passionate about supporting clients through life transitions, identity exploration, stress, depression, and anxiety. I’m glad you’re here and hope to offer a sense of belonging and relief, compassion, and support.

My “big three” therapeutic focus areas include:

  • Gender Identity: It can be challenging to find a gender-affirming therapist with shared experiences. As a trans and queer clinician myself, I recognize that navigating the complexities and nuances of gender may feel confusing, conflicting, and overwhelming, as well as exciting, empowering, and liberating. I can also appreciate that finding a community to explore your gender identity and gender expression can be challenging. Together, we will work on your individual needs and goals as you navigate your gender identity.
  • ADHD: Are you feeling overwhelmed by racing thoughts or finding it difficult to complete tasks and stay organized? Do you often feel easily distracted, struggling to focus even when you’re trying your best? In our sessions, we’ll work collaboratively to identify sources of stress, develop practical coping strategies, and build skills to help you manage symptoms more effectively. Together, we will aim to reduce anxiety that may be impacting your daily life.
  • Life transitions: Change can be both exciting and scary! Even good changes, such as a move, a new school, a new job, or beginning hormone-affirming therapy, can bring about feelings of anxiety, fear, and worry. Transitions can also be challenging, particularly when unfamiliar or stressful. I am here to work with you through whatever you are going through and empower you during this transition in your life.

I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness practices. I use holistic, humanistic, and strength-based approaches when working with individual clients throughout sessions.
