Who is Claire Sanguedolce? Here are a few fun facts to get to know our newest provider!

  • Born: Livingston, NJ
  • Favorite color: Red
  • Things I enjoy: I like to do yoga, hike, watch scary movies, cook, and travel
  • Favorite Food: #1 favorite food is pizza! Close second is dim sum
  • Clients I work best with: While I’m particularly drawn to working with folks who are hoping to process and heal from trauma, I’m open to working with just about anybody who is willing to be open and engaged with me in sessions. A sense of humor also helps!

In her own words:

I am a collaborative, respectful, and non-judgmental therapist. I believe that therapy is not “one size fits all” and that each individual is the expert of their own life. As a yoga teacher, I incorporate mindfulness and movement-focused techniques into sessions. I work to empower clients to slow down, explore and get curious, laugh, navigate difficult emotions and thoughts, practice self-compassion, cultivate resilience and self-efficacy, and reconnect to themselves. Whether you’re seeking a safe, inclusive, and affirming space to share, process, or heal, or hoping to improve and expand areas of your life or reach your goals, you’re in the right place.

My big three therapeutic focus areas include:

Stress and anxiety

Stress and anxiety are not only uncomfortable, but they also often hinder one’s ability to show up for themselves, be there for others, and fully engage in life. Using cognitive-behavioral-based techniques, we’ll collaboratively explore thoughts and behaviors that may perpetuate or worsen discomfort and other issues caused by stress and anxiety. We’ll discover strengths, resources, and opportunities to develop a personalized plan that will empower you to make positive and healthy changes you desire in your life.

PTSD and shame

I strongly believe in the healing power of a safe, validating, and empathetic space to share narratives of traumatic experiences. You’ll be in the driver’s seat, and I’ll be right next to you, providing support and moving at whatever pace is best for you as we process and make sense of it all. Trauma can leave people feeling haunted by the past and unable to fully be present in our lives. Drawing on cognitive processing therapy, mindfulness, and other trauma-focused approaches, we’ll identify the things currently keeping you “stuck” so that you can move forward on your own terms.

Life transitions

Life is full of transitions; some bigger, some smaller, some that may feel more negative, and some more positive (but perhaps very stressful, nonetheless!). Regardless of what you’re experiencing, I’m here to support you through it. Using acceptance and commitment-based strategies as well as mindfulness techniques, we will work together to build skills to help you navigate challenging moments in your life with greater flexibility, peace, and self-compassion.

Claire draws from various evidence-based, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and social justice-oriented approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing (MI).
